THE PURPOSE OF THIS WEBSITE

The purpose of this website is to encourage you to take up a course in

the Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro and to help you select the course most

appropriate to your needs. The polytechnic is able to fulfil the

objective of educating and training people for industry, commerce, the

professions and community services by offering courses that are highly

relevant to the world of work.

We are pleased that we are able to provide opportunities to study courses in Applied

Science and Technology, Engineering, Environmental Studies, and Management

Studies. All our courses are carefully designed to be stimulating, intellectually

challenging and are accredited by the National Board for Technical Education. In

addition, the delivery of the curriculum is subject to the judgement of professional

bodies, external scholars and experts in the industry in the particular field they

cover.

We believe that the industrial work experience scheme, field work and study tours

which are an integral part of all the courses in Applied Science, Engineering and

Environmental Studies give our students an additional insight into the courses of

their choice such that at the end of their study they are better able to apply their

knowledge in their chosen careers.

In addition, to giving details to our courses, the website also highlights the important

academic resources and services we provide for our students to assist them in their

academic work. The polytechnic provides a variety of student services and standard

facilities for sports and recreation, medical care and worshiping on campus, among

others. We like to feel that our students work hard, are well supported and at the

same time enjoy their academic life. Vital information contained in this website will

afford students the opportunity to study and read ahead of their lecture schedules.

The institution is sufficiently large with 4,000 full-time and 2,000 part-time students

and 1,000 academic and non-academic staff to have its own social life. Well-

landscaped and beautiful lawns provide a serene environment very conducive to

learning. Sufficiently furnished club house, guest house and a number of registered

social clubs on campus add flavour and value to the social life on campus. At the

same time, we are near the centre of a medium-populated ancient town of Ilaro and

are therefore able to share the life of the community. Also, social life of the two

capital cities of Ogun and Lagos States which only a few kilometres away spill over

to Ilaro.

I am confident; therefore, that we have a course that meets your particular need, so

can play a part in your plans for the future with which I wish you every success. I

very much hope that you will pursue your interest in coming to the Federal

Polytechnic, Ilaro. If you do come you will be very welcome as a member of our

academic community. I know you will find the polytechnic interesting, challenging

and a very exciting place to be. Certainly, it will be a rewarding and worthwhile stay
